Annual Leave Year

The annual leave year is changing

As part of ongoing collaboration with both Surrey and Sussex Police Forces, a decision has been made to align the annual leave year between the three Forces.

The Forces are collectively working to develop a Microsoft product to replace legacy back office IT systems. The leave change, from its current alignment with the calendar year to alignment with the financial year, is necessary to support this work.

To enable this change you will be provided with a three month leave period calculation between January and March 2019. This will be reflected in DMS and on Pipkins for Contact Management staff.

From March 2019 your annual leave entitlement will run from April – March, with your new leave balance beginning on 1 April 2019.

What does this mean for me?

This does not affect the amount of leave you are entitled to.

Any leave not taken during the three month period between 1 January and 31 March 2019 will carry over into the following leave year.

If you want to use more than your entitlement between 1 January and 31 March 2019 you will be allowed to do so.  Your leave balance will show a deficit for this short period but will correct itself as of 1 April 2019 when your new entitlement starts.
