Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (C.I.C.A) will only accept claims by telephone or on-line application.

Telephone

Telephone helpline staff can guide you through an application in around 20 minutes, as long as you have all the relevant information with you. Please read the Can I apply? section of the CICA website, which will help you decide whether you are eligible, before calling us on 0300 003 3601 to apply. Lines are open 08.30 to 17.00 weekdays except Wednesdays, when they are open 10.00 to 17.00.

Online

Online application for compensation should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete - as long as you have all the relevant information with you.

You may find it useful to read the Can I apply? section on the CICA website, which will help you find out if you are likely to be eligible for compensation, before you start. Officers should be aware that they may not be eligible unless their injury is directly attributable to a crime of violence. You may not be covered if you were simply trying to apprehend a criminal and injured in the process and not actually assaulted. Please contact the office for further advice.
