Corrie and Paul are newly-weds who have just moved into their cold eyrie of an apartment. Corrie is starry-eyed; young lawyer Paul is less enamoured after staggering up five flights to reach an apartment with no bath tub and a broken skylight. Odd Bohemian characters inhabit the building, including Victor Velasco who uses their bedroom as a back door. When Corrie tries to set him up with her lonely mother she learns, through a series of domestic catastrophes, that real marriage requires more than being barefaced in the bedroom and barefoot in the park.
