Just about everything to do with a police officer’s conditions of service is covered by Police Regulations. A full copy of Police Regulations can be found in the Advice / Reference section of this website.  Additional conditions are also drafted through  agreement reached in the Police Negotiating Board (PNB). These agreements are sometimes available as standalone documents, but often they are published as Home Office Circulars. Most PNB agreements are binding on Forces. Sometimes they are merely advisory. Both PNB Agreements and Home Office Circulars are available in the Lirary Section of this website.

A failure to comply with the provisions of Police Regulations is a specific conduct offence under the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2008. Managers of all ranks should bear this in mind. A failure to conform to a binding PNB agreement may render a Force open to a Judicial Review.
